Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Registered Nurse state licensure.
  • Completion of Fresenius Internal Clinical Leadership Training, Milestone I and Milestone 2.
  • At least 2 years of Clinical Manager experience at Fresenius Medical Care.
  • An additional 6 months of chronic or acute dialysis nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies and management skills, including communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, motivating employees, performance management, and decision making.
  • Demonstrated management skills necessary to supervise facility personnel and ensure delivery of quality patient care.
  • Successful completion of the Ishihara Color Blind Test.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the dialysis facility in accordance with legal, compliance, regulatory, and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and Clinical Manager or Charge Nurse to provide quality patient care from admission through discharge.
  • Make daily decisions to ensure continuity of care and patient and staff safety.
  • Market available services through presentations to physicians and dialysis facilities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for all direct reports.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Quality, Education, and Technical Services departments.
  • Oversee the facility’s Home Therapies Program in collaboration with the Home Therapies Program Manager.
  • Maintain the integrity of medical and operational records and comply with data collection and auditing activities.
  • Complete Internal Classification of Disease coding and required network reporting.
  • Participate in on-site state and federal surveys.
  • Execute short- and long-term objectives with direct responsibility for costs, methods, staffing, and results.
  • Administer the daily business operations of the dialysis clinics, including center staff functions, patient-care quality, physical plant and equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
  • Manage profit and loss and other financial aspects of the center to meet budget and key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate patient care from admission through discharge and address patient and family concerns.
  • Oversee timely completion of patient assessments and care plans.
  • Manage patient schedules and develop action plans for missed treatments.
  • Report changes in patient status involving clinical, insurance, travel, or transportation issues.
  • Participate in selecting and hiring new team members and complete new-hire orientation and mandatory training.
  • Ensure patient-care employees complete required training and maintain current licenses and certifications.
  • Support clinical staff and encourage professional growth.
  • Obtain clinical feedback for employee evaluations, establish annual goals, and conduct evaluations.
  • Document disciplinary actions and consult with the Director of Operations and Human Resources.
  • Manage staff scheduling and payroll.
  • Facilitate physician-privilege applications and compliance with medical staff bylaws.
  • Maintain physician relationships and ensure regular and effective communication.
  • Participate in the Governing Body interdisciplinary team.
  • Implement and maintain Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assessment and Improvement Program processes.
  • Review center operations for compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Implement quality standards and facility-specific action plans.
  • Oversee training and compliance with risk-management initiatives.
  • Address adverse safety events and action thresholds with the Charge Registered Nurse.
  • Communicate and implement quality policies and procedures among facility staff.
  • Manage facility staff workload and provide guidance and leadership.
  • Create and communicate employee schedules according to facility staffing needs.
  • Consult with the Charge Registered Nurse and Medical Director to optimize clinical staffing.
  • Provide ongoing informal feedback and annual performance evaluations, incorporating feedback from the Medical Director and Charge Registered Nurse.
  • Set annual staff goals with the Charge Registered Nurse and Medical Director.
  • Manage hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain disciplinary documentation and consult with Human Resources and the Director of Operations.
  • Ensure completion of new-hire orientation, training, coding training, and mandatory in-services.
  • Maintain documentation of current licensure and required in-service updates.
  • Provide training and guidance to develop staff clinical competencies and professional growth.
  • Communicate benefits, Human Resources policies, and procedures to staff.
  • Participate in employee recognition and satisfaction programs.
  • Communicate corporate, division, and company initiatives, policies, and procedures to facility staff.
  • Use company services and products to contribute to business growth.
  • Maintain facility environmental integrity and safety.
  • Schedule maintenance and repair of equipment, operating systems, and facility structure.
  • Monitor facility security.
  • Coordinate inventory and supply management, including inventory counts and purchase-order approval.
  • Ensure efficient use of medications, laboratory resources, supplies, and equipment.
  • Contribute to facility policies, procedures, and related manuals.
  • Direct information gathering to support billing, billing issues, and collections.
  • Coordinate and approve facility payroll.
  • Participate in internal and external state and federal surveys.
  • Review provider contracts for vendor services such as insurance, laboratory, and facility cleaning.
  • Supervise Charge Registered Nurses and direct patient-care staff.
  • Perform desk and personal-computer work and interact with patients, facility staff, and physicians.
  • Travel to regional, business-unit, and corporate meetings as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role in a medical facility.
  • Med/surg or intensive care unit/coronary care unit experience.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and experience with medical database software.
