  • An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.
  • Knowledge of the Baker Act and client rights.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and abuse reporting regulations.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications and side effects.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation practices.
  • Ability to assist with patient mobility and physical interventions when required.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

  • Availability for a full-time schedule that may include weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Administer and monitor medications, and document their effectiveness and side effects.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for all admitted clients.
  • Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Provide one-to-one observation and implement safety precautions as needed.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living.
  • Intervene verbally and/or physically during behavioral crises following protocol.
  • Monitor clients under suicide, homicide, and restraint precautions.
  • Initiate and document restraint and seclusion procedures.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and team meetings.
  • Educate clients and families on treatment, medications, and wellness.
  • Lead psychoeducational groups, including hygiene, substance abuse, and nutrition groups.
  • Communicate with families and care teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and care plans.
  • Review and follow physician orders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Perform blood draws and collect lab specimens.
  • Provide minor wound care and monitor special diets.
  • Assess and address clients’ physical health concerns.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of psychiatric or mental health nursing experience.
  • BLS Certification.
  • An Associate degree in Nursing or higher.
