About the Role:
We are looking for an excellent attorney and person to join our team and make an immediate positive impact, initially focusing on our business development arrangements, vendor agreements and non-disclosure agreements, as well as with some sales agreements. The position will work closely with other attorneys, the contracts department and various internal functional groups, as well as externally with counsel for other businesses with whom we are engaged, on contract negotiations, transactional management and other matters. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed at either a larger law firm with good transactional training, or in-house within a large legal team and with formal training, most likely with about 4-6+ years of experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing company and work with good people, cutting-edge technology and new business models, and be well positioned for future growth. This position will be the newest addition to a medium sized, but growing, collegial team of attorneys and contracts professionals. The location for this role is at our San Diego, California headquarters.
The primary work location will be daily, onsite in the San Diego, California office.
What You’ll Do:
- Work on cutting-edge contracts to add business development partners to the Company’s marketplace of software-based services available for licensing by the Company’s customers, which includes contracts such as non-disclosure agreements, SDK licenses, business development/marketplace commercial arrangements, customer contracts particularly with respect to third party software, as well as hardware, software and service-based vendor contracts.
- Experience working in a hyper-growth, fast-paced SaaS business with a novel business model, where the emphasis is on “building” as opposed to “maintaining”.
- Get great experience on important commercial matters and related contracts, working with a fun but successful group of colleagues.
What We’re Looking For:
- 4-6+ years of overall legal experience at either or both of a larger law firm or in-house large legal department with heavy deal flow and formal training, with demonstrated successful track record of assuming increasing responsibilities
- Ideally, experience with a SaaS business with enterprise customers, including matters such as data security/privacy
- Ideally, prior experience with intellectual property licensing
- Significant experience supporting procurement and non-disclosure agreements
- Successful communication skills with senior management, internal constituents, and external partners, with a focus on being effective and practical and not theoretical.
- Demonstrated intellectual ability, sustained work success, and good interpersonal skills
- Willingness and desire and ability to learn lots of new things rapidly
