Requirements
  • High School Diploma with applicable professional experience.
  • Three or more years of extrusion process development experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of extrusion process development and extrusion tooling design.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical process support for the extrusion department during day-to-day production of custom plastic components for medical devices.
  • Collaborate with production, product development, and quality teams on the manufacturing floor.
  • Support product development activities, continuous improvement initiatives, complaint resolution, and Corrective and Preventive Action investigations.
  • Analyze complex manufacturing problems to determine root cause and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead the technical aspects of process validation projects to improve operational performance.
  • Assist product development teams with design for manufacturability requirements on new products.
  • Support the purchase of new capital equipment and tooling with appropriate documentation and evaluation.
  • Manage multiple technical projects by coordinating internal and external resources.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Plastics Engineering.
  • Five or more years of work experience related to polymer processing.
  • Experience with Process Validation and Equipment Qualification including Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of International Organization for Standardization 13485:2016.
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, Food and Drug Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with equipment and process troubleshooting.
  • Experience with blue print reading.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments or Six Sigma methodologies.
