- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
- Maintain registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Maintain current licensure by the State of Florida.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) or healthcare provider certification.
- Have one year of experience in radiation therapy.
- Implement each patient's planned course of treatment as prescribed by radiation oncologists.
- Follow predetermined treatment parameters established during patient simulation and treatment planning.
- Interact with all areas of radiation oncology to schedule, plan, evaluate, and implement patients' planned courses of treatment.
- Coordinate with internal and external departments to provide multidisciplinary continuity of care.
- Precept new department employees by training staff on record-and-verify computer systems, policies and procedures, departmental flow, radiation therapy technology, and related functions.
- Participate in weekend and holiday call schedules, weekend call rotation, and morning warm-up rotations as needed.
- Reinforce patient education concerning diet and side-effect management.
- Consult the appropriate department regarding patient concerns outside the therapist's area of expertise.
- Provide daily patient-related activities according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist with equipment maintenance by promptly reporting malfunctions and unsafe conditions to the chief radiation therapist.
- Document patient treatment data, patient well-being, charges billed, and procedures scheduled to facilitate continuity of care.
- Demonstrate understanding of governmental statutes and regulations concerning the application of ionizing radiation at state and federal levels.
- Obtain continuing education required by professional and state licensure organizations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in radiation therapy areas including teletherapy, high-dose-rate and low-dose-rate brachytherapy, radiosurgery, stereotactic radiotherapy, physics, dosimetry, and nursing.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with organizational policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
- Work flexible hours to accommodate patient and departmental needs.
- Participate in community service and center-wide educational events.
- Provide appropriate care based on the age and specific needs of each assigned patient.
