Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) in Maryland
  • CPR Certified
  • One year of Hospital experience
  • Three years of relevant Pediatric experience required
  • ICU and Nutrition Support preferred
Responsibilities
  • Practices as an expert in the application of the nutrition care process (NCP) and theory
  • Utilizes the NCP to provide person-/population-centered nutrition care to patients while considering other factors affecting nutrition and health status such as culture, ethnicity, gender, health literacy and social determinants of health.
  • Performs nutrition assessments and implements nutrition plans of care based on evidence-based practice and patient's goals of care.
  • Documents in the medical record using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' standardized language.
  • Establishes credibility as the food and nutrition expert within the interprofessional team and organization. Maintains a climate of mutual respect, dignity, ethical integrity, and trust.
  • Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote patient/client wellness, health maintenance, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. Communicates the plan of care with the appropriate multidisciplinary team member(s).
  • Provides nutrition-related education in a manner tailored to the learner’s age, language, and ability to understand. Documents the education plan and the learner’s understanding in the EMR. Provides language interpretation and translation service as necessary.
  • Precepts and coordinates learning experiences for trainees in the JHHS dietetic education programs and fulfills program-related expectations, including but not limited to annual curriculum reviews/updates, grading assignments, and conducting rotation evaluations.
  • Supports the needs of the department/hospital/facility to facilitate essential operations as needed or directed by leadership.
  • Demonstrates self-management by maximizing use of worktime and fulfilling job responsibilities, including but not limited to meeting of competencies, maintenance of credentials, participating in huddle, attending meetings, etc.
  • Reviews and adheres to all policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Participates in creating an environment of open communication, trust, transparency, and growth.
  • Uses available resources to present, publish, and share nutrition information with various audiences, which may include presentations, publications, media, and social media.
  • Participates in JHM-sponsored community and/or professional outreach opportunities.
  • Complete other mission-related departmental responsibilities.
