About This Role
As our Payroll Manager, you will be at the heart of Crexi’s operations, ensuring our team is supported and compensated accurately and on time. You’ll own the entire payroll process, mastering multi-state, bi-weekly payrolls, seamlessly integrating time and attendance systems, and managing payroll tax reporting and reconciliation. You’ll be the go-to expert for all payroll-related accounting transactions, using your expertise with the BambooHR Payroll system to maintain and enhance our payroll operations. This role will be onsite in our Playa Vista, CA Headquarters.
What You’ll Do
- Drive the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in bi-weekly and semi- monthly payrolls
- Ensure precise processing of payroll transactions, including time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, and garnishments
- Master payroll taxes and rates across various states and localities
- Administer payroll, perform reconciliations with the General Ledger and other accounts
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting employees and managers with payroll-related inquiries
- Maintain and update operating procedures, ensuring adherence to policies
- Continuously seek improvements and efficiencies in payroll processes, collaborating with the Division Controller
- Conduct in-depth analyses and audits to identify and resolve payroll anomalies
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for multiple states, ensuring reconciliation with payroll and general ledger systems
- Plan, conduct, and report audit results to ensure accuracy in enrollments
- Work closely with Accounting and Finance for quarterly and year-end audits
- Partner with Human Resources on matters related to new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, and payroll policies
- Administer unemployment claims
- Present benefits overviews during the onboarding process for new hires
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field, or a relevant combination of education, experience, and certifications
- 5+ years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing in a multi-state environment, handling both exempt and non-exempt employees
- Extensive knowledge of wage and hour laws, and payroll tax compliance
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to create actionable reports
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to automate payroll and reporting processes
- A creative problem-solver with a proactive attitude
Pluses
- CPP certification preferred.
- PHR/SHRM-CP certification is a bonus
- Proficiency in a variety of software applications, including payroll, benefits, and time & attendance systems
- Familiarity with BambooHR Payroll is highly desired

The anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in our Playa Vista, California location is $87,000-$105,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, the type and length of experience applicable to the role and within the industry, education, geographic location, etc. Commercial Real Estate Exchange, Inc (“Crexi”) is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
