Requirements
  • 4–7 years of commercial contracting experience — law firm or in-house — with significant enterprise SaaS exposure
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex commercial negotiations, including data security and AI-specific provisions
  • Deep understanding of privacy, IP, and AI regulatory regimes
  • Experience in legal tech, compliance software, or regulated enterprise SaaS preferred
  • JD required; bar admission in at least one US jurisdiction required
Responsibilities
  • Negotiate MSAs and NDAs: Own commercial contract negotiations with enterprise customers from first redline through signature
  • Handle IP in agreements and protect Syllo's IP: Own the IP terms that run through our contracts, and help protect Syllo's intellectual property more broadly as the company grows
  • Address data privacy in contracts and support compliance: Own the data privacy provisions that a litigation SaaS product demands, and help the Data Security team interpret the statutory rules and regulations that shape our obligations
  • Build playbooks: Create and maintain negotiation playbooks, standard positions, and pre-approved fallback language that let the team move faster without escalating everything
  • Manage Contract Administration: Oversee contract management processes and ensure we are aware of key milestones and renewals
  • Advise the GTM team: Serve as the legal partner for Sales and CS. Available, direct, and commercial in orientation
  • Develop strategy on legal issues involving AI: Evaluate new models and AI technologies from a legal perspective, guide our responses to new AI regulation, and help educate legal organizations regarding the opportunities and risks involving AI
  • Identify legal risk: Spot the provisions that create real exposure and distinguish them from the ones that do not. Not everything needs to be a fight
Desired Qualifications
  • MSA and NDA negotiation depth: You have owned the negotiation, not just reviewed the output. You can describe the provisions you pushed on, gave on, and held
  • Legal tech and AI contract awareness: You understand the risk landscape of AI-powered SaaS in a legal data context, including data ownership, model training restrictions, and hallucination liability
  • Range over specialization: You are drawn to problems outside your prior experience, including IP and data privacy questions, and you build the knowledge to answer them rather than deferring by default. You want to be a resourceful contributor to a new function, not a narrow specialist
  • Commercial orientation: You solve problems, not just identify them. Legal advice is useful only when it moves the deal
  • Judgment under ambiguity: You can take a novel risk question, apply the relevant framework, and give the business a clear answer
  • Process building and AI tooling: You are a process architect that is comfortable building contract playbooks to provide greater clarity and facilitate the deal cycle. You know how to use AI intelligently and selectively to become more efficient while casting a critical eye on outputs and reviewing information sources

Kirkland Partners With Syllo For Secret Sauce Litigation.

Kirkland Partners With Syllo For Secret Sauce Litigation. 29th June 2026 artificiallawyer Secret Sauce Comments Off on Kirkland Partners With Syllo For Secret Sauce Litigation Fresh from signing a massive deal with Palantir and going on a legal AI hiring spree, Kirkland & Ellis has inked a deal with Syllo, a 'unified platform for litigation case management, eDiscovery, legal research, analysis and drafting' that will also allow the firm to build its own skills into the system. The multiyear strategic partnership 'marks a defining step in Kirkland's litigation AI strategy and gives Kirkland the exclusive ability to build proprietary solutions within and around the Syllo AI platform, which Kirkland selected for rollout across its litigation practice following a multiyear evaluation of the market'. As with the Palantir deal, Kirkland is very much sending out a message that this is all about its own 'secret sauce' and the bottling process for that. In this case, rather than PE, it's all about litigation. Kirkland plans to build on Syllo's foundation through a 'unique set of rights to develop proprietary AI solutions and knowledge infrastructure that extend and interconnect with the platform. This arrangement is exclusive to Kirkland for an extended period', they added. Andrew Kassof, who leads Kirkland's litigation practice as a member of the firm's Executive Committee, commented: 'Syllo's platform and our exclusive custom-build rights will allow us to bring our most senior judgment and proprietary know-how to bear in our development and deployment of litigation AI, delivering strategic advantages, differentiated service, greater efficiencies and better results for our clients across the lifecycle of litigation' Elizabeth Hess, litigation partner and member of Kirkland's Executive Committee, added: 'Syllo is different from anything else in the market. Its platform, knowledge infrastructure and agentic solutions for litigation are decisively ahead of every other solution we evaluated over an extended period. 'More importantly, we're excited about our ability to extend those capabilities through custom development that captures Kirkland's distinctive knowledge and institutional experience.' Jeffrey Chivers, CEO and head of product at Syllo, concluded: 'We built the Syllo platform and Litigation Agent to augment and amplify attorney capabilities. Kirkland's decision to build on Syllo reflects the depth and unique strengths of our platform, which powers the work of our clients across the market every day. We are proud to support the next chapter of litigation at Kirkland, and the litigators everywhere who rely on Syllo.' Is this a big deal? Well, K&E are certainly making waves, and as noted, it's all about the sauce - the secret kind. Some of what Syllo offers: 'Case management re-imagined 01.
