Value investing legend Seth Klarman increases Genuine Parts stake by 89% to $332M

Value investor Seth Klarman's Baupost Group increased its stake in Genuine Parts Company by 89% in the second quarter, accumulating 2.82 million shares worth approximately $332.3 million. Genuine Parts announced plans to separate its Global Automotive and Global Industrial businesses to boost shareholder value. The Industrial division showed particular strength in Q2, with sales rising 7% year-over-year and EBITDA climbing nearly 10% to $316 million. The Automotive segment, which operates NAPA auto parts stores, also posted gains with North American sales up 4%. The company has increased dividends for 70 consecutive years. The main risk is whether the separation will deliver expected value, as both businesses will lose economies of scale from operating together.
