Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
  • One to three years of healthcare or clerical experience is required.
  • Ability to coordinate and work as a team member with various disciplines and departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a wide range of issues with internal or external customers and initiate follow-up actions.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and maintain patient records, including filing data and obtaining reports and data needed for departmental operations.
  • Greet and assist visitors courteously.
  • Use clinical and patient information systems to support patient care delivery.
  • Coordinate department communications and appropriately accept and screen telephone calls.
  • Assist with orienting new administrative support staff.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of current forms, unit supplies, and equipment, and troubleshoot and maintain office equipment.
  • Assist with scheduling through the Shift Wizard System and manage timecards and payroll through the Kronos system.
  • Coordinate department communications by relaying patient and healthcare-member requests to unit staff.
  • Respond to the individual needs of patients and families according to the age and special characteristics of the patient group served.
  • Monitor and respond to the patient call-bell system and follow through on patient and family requests.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate admissions, discharges, and patient transfers.
  • Assist the unit registered nurse coordinator in updating Enterprise Visibility for appropriate patient bed placement.
  • Enter patient charges in Soarian Financials and coordinate with billing regarding patient billing and charges.
  • Perform environmental control, revenue reconciliation, inventory management, data-entry processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a positive work environment while performing customer-service, clerical, and reception duties that support unit workflow.
  • Prepare, process, and standardize patient records and use the EPIC clinical information system.
  • Greet visitors, manage the reception desk, transcribe physician orders, order supplies, file documents, answer phone calls and patient call bells, and perform other clerical duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
