Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of experience in housekeeping operations management is required.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Candidates must be proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the internet.
  • Candidates must be able to lift, transfer, push, or pull residents, patients, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Candidates must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed for coverage and be available on call 24/7 for emergencies.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assign housekeeping tasks to departmental staff and ensure that tasks are performed according to established procedures.
  • Ensure cleaning, washing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping meet the needs of residents and staff members.
  • Staff the department and schedule employees to meet departmental needs.
  • Coordinate services and activities with Culinary, Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance, Therapy, Activities, and Social Services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Ensure housekeeping functions are performed safely for residents, staff members, and visitors.
  • Maintain quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices during housekeeping tasks and ensure departmental staff do the same.
  • Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are maintained and operable.
  • Share observations and operational insights that may improve department quality and efficiency.
  • Manage Housekeeping Department staff at the life plan community.
  • Foster a positive work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates employees.
  • Interview, select, and orient new direct reports.
  • Define, establish, and promote performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Evaluate direct reports' job performance and provide developmental guidance for improved performance and growth.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational requirements and work with Human Resources when documentation or intervention is needed.
  • Participate in developing, planning, scheduling, conducting, and monitoring staff in-service training, on-the-job training, and orientation programs.
  • Maintain a sufficient staffing plan for absences and vacancies among direct reports.
  • Respond to questions, requests, and work products from departmental staff for review and approval.
  • Listen and respond to the needs of residents and staff members.
  • Review and respond to housekeeping complaints and grievances.
  • Honor residents' personal and property rights during housekeeping duties and ensure departmental staff do the same.
  • Maintain current and accurate records using computers and documentation in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Executive Housekeeper designation from the International Executive Housekeepers Association is preferred.
  • Experience in a long-term care facility, hospital, or other related medical facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping practices, procedures, standards, guidelines, and regulations in a long-term care environment is preferred.
