Requirements
  • An Associate degree in Industrial Instrumentation, Electrical, or Controls, or equivalent experience, with instrument, electrical, and controls experience.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controller/distributed control system programming, hardware, software, and wiring.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and update electrical prints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong safety attitude and mindset.
  • Dependability, integrity, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to comply with NFPA 70E regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Operate tools and testing devices used by the Instrumentation and Electrical Group, including ohmmeters, voltmeters, soldering guns, oscilloscopes, computer diagnostic terminals, and test recorders.
  • Install or repair instruments and electrical devices up to 480 V, with limited repairs to transformers and switchgear on 2,300 V and 13,800 V systems.
  • Install and repair instrumentation and electrical systems, including temperature, pressure, and flow control loops, process computer systems, power distribution systems, and motor control circuits.
  • Execute calibrations on process instrumentation, including pH, flow, density, turbidity, and conductivity systems.
  • Use process knowledge to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair equipment with minimal disruption to the operating plant.
  • Diagnose problems, determine their causes, and initiate corrective action for issues such as programming errors, operator errors, overloaded circuits, fluctuating control signals, intermittent ground faults, and faulty components.
  • Self-direct and work effectively on a team while leading instrumentation and electrical tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Assist mechanics with mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Plan materials and time, coordinate scheduling availability with other departments, and requisition tools and materials for assigned tasks.
  • Execute verbal or written instructions using prints and manufacturer literature, or by exercising sound judgment.
  • Assess assigned tasks and recommend workable improvements when warranted.
  • Respond to off-shift call-ins, work overtime when required, and perform rotating shift work as needed.
  • Observe applicable company policies, procedures, and safe practices.
  • Support Environmental, Health, and Safety and Total Productive Management across the plant.
  • Support Good Manufacturing Practices and the Quality System and Policy.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility is desired, preferably in a chemical processing facility.
  • Microsoft Office computer knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • SAP experience or knowledge is strongly preferred.
