The Role: Adhesive Material Characterization Intern, Summer
Divergent is seeking a motivated individual to help with our product development effort. The work will involve ordering chemicals and supplies, formulating UV and heat cure adhesives, characterization of cured and uncured formulations. Compliance with safety and 5S procedures is a must. The individual must be able to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
What You’ll Do:
·Responsible for acquisition of required chemicals and supplies
·Involved with chemical formulations
·Responsible for formulation characterization using standard laboratory instrumentation such as a rheometer
·Responsible for cure, and characterization of formulations via standard tools such as compression and tensile tests
·Ensure proper and safe storage of chemicals, and proper maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
·Follow defined lab and manufacturing procedures and processes and help to create or improve them where needed
·Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·Cognizant of Environmental, Health, and Safety issues, focus on continuous improvement, and comply to all industry specifications and standards
What You Have:
· Student who has successfully passed the first semesters of studies focused on organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material science or chemical engineering
· Masters student focused on organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material science or chemical engineering is preferred

· Experience with rheometry, and other test laboratory equipment involving physical property measurements
· Experience with statistical analysis
· Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with other team members and manufacturing teams
