The Role: The Director - Private Markets is responsible for supporting the Head of Private Markets Sales, North America in the maintenance of existing client relationships, origination of new sales opportunities, and coordination of internal commercial initiatives in North America. This individual will work in close collaboration with all members of the commercial team in the course of their day-to-day activities and will support the overall achievement of the regional revenue targets.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate and support the RM teams in developing relationships with the largest Asset Managers, Investors, and Intermediaries.
Strategic analysis and segmentation of regional markets, trends and industry developments to identify new rating opportunities across the Private Markets space
Develop relationship overviews for the largest Alternative Asset Manager relationships and update on a monthly basis.
Conduct monthly calls with the RMs focused on key Private markets verticals to ensure coordination across our most important relationships.
Collection and analysis of market data on target names to be able to accurately prioritize the sales opportunity in Salesforce.com (SFDC). Use SFDC proactively to ensure the database properly reflects the status of each prospect (both entities and opportunities)
Telephone and e-mail marketing to prospect LPs/GPs/Intermediaries to introduce S&P and to explore rating needs, seize opportunities to organize face-to-face marketing meetings with relevant market players.
Support development of prospective clients towards engagement and managing relationships with existing clients.
Attending meetings alongside the team to gain experience in pitching S&P services and to learn best practices.
Assisting managing clients during the engagement process. Effectively coordinate within the organization to ensure we execute new business in an efficient and timely manner.
Develop and use knowledge garnered from marketing activities to feed ideas into regional event planning and mailings.
Preparation of information packs and ad hoc data collection in support of meetings undertaken by the Private Markets team
Prepare data for Private Markets monthly reporting and respond to information requests from Senior management in a timely manner.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $88,400 to $175,650. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
Basic Qualifications:
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 8-10 years of relevant experience at either a rating agency, bank or asset manager
Experience in Private Markets (i.e. Private Equity, Private Debt, Infrastructure, etc.).
Previous experience preferably in a customer facing/sales-oriented role with experience developing new relationships.
Strong Knowledge of debt capital markets and Leveraged Finance
Proficient in Salesforce, Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics or related field)
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
Some exposure to ratings agencies by either working at or interacting with one
