Purpose
We need several Process Technicians to be responsible for the movement of material through the fab as an expert for their respective primary toolset. This includes wafer handling, and processing wafers on semiconductor tools as well as training, mentorship, and recipe modifications.
Responsibilities
For all levels:
- Creates and updates documented work standards and process specifications, including specifications, blueprints, manuals, or written instructions
- Process wafers through computerized equipment, such as chemical baths, ion implant, furnaces, film deposition, metal evaporation, and photo alignment, for their respective toolsets
- Carefully handles and transports product
- Visually inspects wafers and die for defects
- Assists in staging material and setting up next shift for success
- Provides technical guidance and support in the form of troubleshooting, diagnostics, adjustments, repair, modifications, assembly, and calibration of equipment
- Supports engineering with timely communication on results, issues, and bottleneck management
- Troubleshoots issues to diagnose root cause and recommend appropriate temporary and permanent solutions
- Maintains accurate logs of work performed, modifications, calibrations, and adjustments
- Initiate lot starts at the direction of the Lead or Supervisor
- Train and develop junior manufacturing technicians
- Support engineering initiatives on the fab floor, such as participating in or conducting experiments
- Perform light equipment maintenance activities.
Level I:
- All of the duties in “For all levels” and:
- Responsible for the movement of material through the fab as an expert for their respective primary toolset, and operational management of downstream and upstream tool sets.
- Process recipe modifications in partnership with principal engineers
Level II:
- All of the duties in “For all levels” and:
- Responsible for the movement of material through the fab as an expert for their two toolsets, and operational management of downstream or upstream tool sets.
- Support engineering initiatives and to qualify or monitor qualification of tools.
Level III:
- All of the duties in “For all levels” and:
- Responsible for the movement of material through the fab as an expert for three toolsets. This includes wafer handling, and processing wafers on semiconductor tools
- Support engineering initiatives and to qualify or monitor qualification of tools
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- 12+ years of hands-on work experience in a manufacturing semiconductor environment
- Experience in an R&D semiconductor environment
- Experience with twelve or more 8 or 12 semiconductor tool platforms, or deep knowledge with five or more 8 or 12 semiconductor tool platforms, such as CVD, etch, CMP, cleans, photolithography, or metrology tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline
- 12+ years of hands-on work experience in a manufacturing semiconductor environment
- Experience in an R&D semiconductor environment
- Experience with twelve or more 8” or 12” semiconductor tool platforms, or deep knowledge with five or more 8" or 12" semiconductor tool platforms, such as CVD, etch, CMP, cleans, photolithography, or metrology tools
Salary Ranges
- Level 1: $28.85 + depending on qualifications
- Level 2: $35.58 + depending on qualifications
- Level 3: $41.90 + depending on qualifications

- Frequently required to push and/or pull 50+ lbs objects, such as carts loaded with FOUPs
- Frequently required to lift 25+ lbs and regularly carry that amount short distances (50 ft)
- Occasionally required to reach, bend, squat, and stoop to handle consumables or chemicals
- May often require repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Frequently required to handle items using small ranges of motion (e.g., fingers and hands) and large ranges of motion (e.g., full-arms and shoulders) for carrying cassettes and lot boxes
- Occasionally required to wear PPE, including a full-body gown, face mask, safety glasses, and gloves
- 90+% of day is spent in the Fab, which a temperature-controlled cleanroom environment that requires the use of a full-body gown, over-boots, over-hood, safety glasses, and other PPE. The use of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials can be expected. Frequent gowning and de-gowning is required. Frequent interruptions, static noise, and alarms (auditory and flashing lights) can be expected.
Work Shift
- Shifts: Mon – Fri, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift to start, then a compressed schedule of 7 12-hour days out of every 2 weeks.
- Hours may vary during the startup phase.
