Requirements
  • Pass appropriate security clearances as required by company policy.
  • Have experience in service, sales, telesales, or guest relations; this experience is preferred rather than required.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to stand, lift, bend, stretch, reach, see, hear, learn, read, concentrate, think, and communicate as required for the position.
  • Be able to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Be able to stand for eight hours.
  • Have knowledge of the property, staff, services, operating hours, room types and locations, rates, discounts, Frequent Stay Program, reservation procedures, phone etiquette, local shopping, dining, entertainment, travel directions, daily hotel operations, emergency procedures, and safety standards.
  • Be computer literate and able to operate the property management system, including posting charges, computing bills, collecting payments, and making change.
  • Be proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Have problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Be able to multitask while remaining focused on associate and guest service.
  • Be able to communicate with guests and coworkers and accurately relay information using communication logbooks.
  • Assist with guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable attitude.
  • Be available to work any day or shift, including weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner while following hospitality standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Execute selling strategies to enhance hotel revenue.
  • Support total front-office operations and act as Manager on Duty when needed or scheduled.
  • Respond immediately to guest requests and represent the hotel during morning and afternoon hours.
  • Maintain thorough communication with management staff.
  • Greet and register guests, assign rooms, protect guest privacy, and accommodate special requests when possible.
  • Promote and sell hotel services and amenities.
  • Promote repeat business by offering future reservations and recommending alternate same-brand products.
  • Identify potential sales leads through guest interactions and report them to the appropriate person.
  • Inform housekeeping and other departments about special requests, late checkouts, and special-needs areas.
  • Check credit cards for validity before the end of the shift.
  • Learn and use the property management system.
  • Ensure cash, checks, and miscellaneous departments are balanced at the end of each shift.
  • Assist in food and beverage, property cleanliness, laundry, housekeeping, and other departments as needed for guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and professional lobby, dining area, and market area, including dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning tables.
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and follow safety standards.
  • Report unusual occurrences, requests, and hazardous conditions to the manager, and correct hazards when possible.
  • Maintain required certification.
  • Use the Service Recovery Log and other communication logs to transfer information between shifts.
  • Follow approved laundry procedures and assist with operating washers and dryers and folding linen where applicable.
