Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, management, or a related field is required; equivalent work experience in a similar position may substitute for the educational requirement.
  • At least four years of increasingly responsible programming experience using a standard coding language and/or platform is required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Three to five years of management experience with system and performance test automation is required.
  • Experience working with and managing test engineering teams and leveraging technology to achieve business goals is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of information technology concepts, strategies, methodologies, application architectures, technical standards, layered system architectures, layered solutions and designs, and shared software concepts is required.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and tools is required.
  • Proficiency in emerging technologies and software development lifecycle advancements, including cloud computing, mobile technologies, and continuous integration and deployment, is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, oral and written communication, and presentation skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and develop a growing team of Test Engineers, Performance Test Engineers, and Test Automation Developers delivering automated testing and performance engineering services.
  • Plan, schedule, estimate, report on, and close out small- to large-scale testing projects, including creation of work breakdown structures.
  • Review project-level test strategies, test plans, and other standard artifacts generated by the test engineering team.
  • Analyze system and application architectures to identify additional testing entry points and reduce project risk.
  • Manage daily team tasks, work schedules, issue resolution, and testing-related escalations.
  • Prepare periodic written reports for management on overall project status and keep stakeholders informed of progress and hurdles.
  • Initiate improvement activities and training to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Analyze complex business and technical requirements and specifications with a focus on testability and performance.
  • Provide technical vision for complex ideas and issues to varied audiences and communicate project objectives, scope, and direction across project teams.
  • Provide status reporting, metrics, and execution dashboards.
  • Manage testing project risks and communicate mitigation options to business and information technology stakeholders.
  • Guide the selection of project structures, methodologies, work schedules, and cost estimates, and manage test automation and performance engineering efforts against the defined plan.
  • Work independently at the highest technical level across software and performance testing phases.
  • Initiate and lead strategic quality initiatives such as test data management, production virtualization, performance testing, and test automation.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least three years of performance testing experience.
  • Experience with test case and issue management systems such as JIRA and TestRail.
  • Development experience with Python or Java, or test automation development experience in a telecommunications domain.
  • Experience with Splunk, Nagios, Hyperic, nmon, or similar performance management and monitoring tools.
  • Hands-on test automation or software development experience.
  • Knowledge of tools used for analysis, automated testing, and development.
