Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and lead assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care using the nursing process, addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Assess patients, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health teaching and promotion, and evaluate goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participate actively in the professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, leadership and clinical excellence, team skills, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in shared governance, promote a healthy work environment, and accept personal responsibility for professional growth.
