  • The ability to distinguish between an auction problem, a creative problem, a targeting problem, a tracking problem, and normal performance variance
  • Experience creating test structures that produce interpretable results—not simply launching more variations
  • Excellent attention to detail without losing sight of the business question behind the work
  • Clear, concise communication and the confidence to surface misses, risks, and uncertainty early
  • A low-ego, high-ownership approach. You care more about getting to the right answer than protecting the first one

  • Build, traffic, and maintain campaigns, including targeting, bidding, budgets, naming conventions, UTMs, placements, creative mapping, and launch QA
  • Monitor and optimize performance across CPI, CPM, CTR, CVR, install volume, reach, frequency, geo performance, and creative fatigue
  • Deliver first-pass channel diagnostics: what changed, why we believe it changed, and what action should follow
  • Keep budgets pacing cleanly and surface risks, opportunities, and material variances early
  • Design disciplined tests across creative, audience, geography, placement, bidding strategy, and campaign objective
  • Partner with creative and growth leads to traffic new assets quickly and translate performance signals into useful creative feedback
  • Manage relationships with platform partners, troubleshoot account and delivery issues, and stay current on meaningful platform changes
  • Maintain clear campaign documentation and operating standards so our work is consistent, auditable, and easier to learn from
  • Contribute to weekly performance reporting and make clear recommendations about what to scale, adjust, pause, or investigate
Desired Qualifications
  • Snap experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with geo-based media planning, DMA-level analysis, incrementality testing, or matched-market studies
  • Experience with retargeting, reactivation, reach-and-frequency campaigns, or upper-funnel video
  • Familiarity with BigQuery, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytics environments
  • Experience marketing a two-sided marketplace or a product whose value depends on local density
  • Experience working closely with creative teams, creators, or UGC production partners
  • A background in a media or performance agency is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with new and emerging paid social platforms and test strategies

OfferUp is a mobile local marketplace that connects buyers and sellers in nearby communities for peer-to-peer transactions. It lets people browse items like furniture, electronics, and cars, then securely message sellers to negotiate prices and arrange meetups. The platform uses seller-premium listings and advertising, plus transaction fees, to monetize. Unlike platforms that rely on centralized retailers, OfferUp focuses on direct, local exchanges and builds trust through user profiles, ratings, badges, and transaction histories. Its goal is to renew value, connect people, and empower communities by making local trading simple and trusted.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • OfferUp is increasing marketing spend in 2025 to regain local user growth.
  • The company is simplifying offerings around local services, auto dealers, and employers.
  • OfferUp still operates profitably enough to fund app modernization and cash-preserving restructuring.

What critics are saying

  • OfferUp cut 22% in December 2024, then more layoffs in October 2025.
  • CEO Todd Dunlap deprecated shipping, signaling weak expansion and narrower monetization options.
  • Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist can outcompete OfferUp, eventually crushing standalone local network effects.

What makes OfferUp unique

  • OfferUp owns local C2C liquidity in U.S. neighborhoods, unlike national-first rivals.
  • The app combines peer listings, jobs, services, rentals, and motors in one place.
  • OfferUp's trust features and nearby meetup workflow reduce friction versus Craigslist.
