Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting Finance (or related area)
  • Two or more years of experience in a payroll and/or benefit plan accounting related role preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products, especially strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • High energy and ability to multi-task
  • Strong analytical skills and attention-to-detail
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and to manage time effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Ability to draw upon experience/professional skepticism to quickly identify issues and develop effective courses of action
  • Requires an ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of employees, managers, and customers
Responsibilities
  • Review and ensure payroll data and changes are accurate and properly approved and reconciled
  • Review 401k calculations for accuracy each payroll
  • Update payroll reports, including headcount, comp, hours tracker, and state tax incentive job tracker
  • Help manage state tax incentives, helping complete applications for new incentives, preparing quarterly and annual reports for existing incentives, reconciling payments, completing renewal applications
  • Recalculate and prepare Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) distribution checks
  • Prepare semi-annual census information
  • Work with third party vendors to ensure the accuracy of 401k and ESOP administration and accounting
  • Prepare documents and facilitate the annual audit of the 401k, ESOP, and Work Comp plans
  • Calculate and track the annual bonus and discretionary contributions for accrual and payout
  • Perform financial and general accounting functions in accordance with GAAP and Corporate policies
  • Assist in the monthly financial closing process for all Shamrock companies
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare, enter, and post journal entries
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanations of transactions
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts identifying and researching reconciling items
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors and tax accountants
  • Collaborate and work with team members from both Accounting and other departments
  • Become knowledgeable in the systems used within the organization to become a resource for related issues, inquiries, and ad hoc reporting
  • Gain understanding of the overall operations of Shamrock, and the role that each subsidiary plays in the Company
  • Take on other tasks or projects to support corporate accounting
  • Interact and provide support to other functional areas of the business to help achieve departmental goals
  • Cross train on other duties to be a backup for other team members
  • Additional accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time

  • Experience with ADP is a plus
