Job Description
Summary
This position provides a leadership role in setting the strategic plan and executing to the strategy for Teledyne for Lab Instruments within the Lab & Field Instruments group.
As part of this role, this position evaluates and manages new strategic business opportunities of new products, technologies, services, add-on product opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures. Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activities, and identifies customer needs. Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives. Defines vision, strategies, and tactics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Generating new business opportunities through market research and analysis
Developing sales and marketing strategies to increase market share and grow revenue
Building and maintaining relationships with key customers, market influencers and industry partners
Negotiating and closing business deals
Identifying new business trends and opportunities
Development and execution to annual business plan sales and profit objectives and departmental budgets
Overseeing business development and sales teams
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the specific departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining.
Travel during the first year will be approximately 50-60%, then will drop to 35-40%

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related discipline and at least 15 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
