Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with electrical systems, programmable logic controllers, motor and motion controls, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, device and information networks, sensors, and instrumentation equipment for manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices, and general instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent with safety standards and practices, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts from 5:45 PM to 6:15 AM.
  • Ability to squat or kneel and bend frequently.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to flour, yeast, oils, peanut butter, and other materials.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacture consumer foods that comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support company and site safety policies, recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers, and suggest safety standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment.
  • Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices work environment.
  • Perform equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities, work orders, and lubrication to maximize plant equipment performance, and improve preventive maintenance activities as appropriate.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
  • Operate and troubleshoot power distribution; Studio5000 or Logix5000 platform hardware and software; drives and motion control; FactoryTalk ME and SE; Ethernet/IP control networks; and food manufacturing and utility instrumentation.
  • Maintain and properly operate electrical testing equipment.
  • Use drawings, prints, and instruction manuals to determine the proper steps for equipment preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Follow company drawing and documentation standards.
  • Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, and equipment repair.
  • Participate in training and qualification programs for designated lines or areas, participate in assessments, and maintain consistent qualification standards.
  • Use continuous improvement tools, including breakdown elimination, to eliminate losses and identify root causes; document, communicate, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Own one or more technical, safety, or quality systems; build technician skills and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Create standard operating procedures, job aids, preventive-maintenance improvements, and other documentation as needed.
  • Attend technical training sessions, participate in vendor visits and scheduled maintenance activities, and develop expertise in electrical and instrumentation technology, networks, servers, FactoryTalk, and motion controls.
  • Use a computer to enter and maintain accurate records and data and use email and online training resources.
  • Maintain accurate electronic databases of repair and maintenance activities, including parts usage and time tracking.
  • Facilitate shift passdowns with the prior and next shifts regarding safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Lead projects to improve safety, quality, or production results in a designated area.
  • Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees when needed.

  • Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred.
