Requirements
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college/university.
  • One year of experience working with Intellectual Developmental Disability Population (Intellectual Developmental Disability Population).
  • Master's degree in the fields of social, behavioral, human services with 0 years of experience OR Master's degree in preferred fields with 0 years of experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish Required.
  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be licensed there; if licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three months of employment.
  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business; must be insurable by Centers liability carrier; must have acceptable driving record.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions; ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables; ability to work well with minimal supervision; ability to work within a team setting.
  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); basic computer skills; Windows 95 and Microsoft Word; prefer experience with Askesis; ability to utilize Internet for resources.
Responsibilities
  • Meets with developmental disability customers at their homes, listening carefully to ascertain their needs, and helping them determine what services they require.
  • Makes recommendations for, and explaining services to customers, based on their needs.
  • Takes customers initial service requests.
  • Enters information into our computer system.
  • Helps customers access services to help them achieve the quality of life they desire.
  • Meets with customers monthly or quarterly to ensure they are getting needed services, to evaluate the effectiveness of the services in meeting needs, and to determine new problems and new interventions.
  • Meets with developmental disability services providers to learn their services, to arrange services for customers, to advocate for our customers, and to make sure they are taking care of our customers.
  • Assists when a crisis arises, be available to help link and assist customers to secure services that will enable them to prevent future crises
  • Acts as primary customer contact, ensuring that satisfaction is the end result.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Metrocare delivers mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse services in North Texas. It runs a network of clinics (10 main sites, 20+ satellites, and two autism centers) that provide coordinated care through licensed clinicians and support services, plus research and training programs for public-sector professionals.
