Exploring aerospace innovation at Alameda Point with tours of Pyka and Rain. East Bay EDA members and partners came together on July 10 for two curated, exclusive tours of Pyka and Rain, two aerospace-related innovation economy companies located at Alameda Point. Considered one of the best remaining large-scale development opportunities in the East Bay, Alameda Point boasts more than 100 businesses that collectively employ more than 1,000 workers and is slated to experience additional development and growth in the coming years as new companies move in and take over increasingly scarce commercial space at this unique location. Fittingly located at the former control tower of the Alameda Naval Air Station, Rain was the first stop on the tour. Daniel Wholey, the company's Head of Strategy & Partnerships, provided an overview of the company's history and evolution to tourgoers, explaining how Rain's technology is built to help fire agencies more rapidly suppress wildfires during the earliest stages of ignition.
