Requirements
  • Education: Master’s or Doctorate in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field (for hires after July 1, 2023).
  • Licensure: Must be a Qualified Mental Health Provider (e.g., RN, Social Worker, Licensed Counselor).
  • Experience: Two years of experience, including at least one year in behavioral health.
  • Missouri Licensure: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Missouri.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on working well with diverse teams and clients.
  • Specialized Licensure: Staff with a Master’s in social work must hold MO LMSW or higher.
  • Driving Requirements: If driving is part of the job, you must meet the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy.
  • Ongoing Training: Complete required training during orientation and as part of continued employment.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily service delivery, ensuring everything runs smoothly, with the possibility of 24/7 service duties.
  • Ensure all operations follow corporate, funder, departmental, and program guidelines.
  • Lead your team and coordinate with external agencies to deliver top-notch services.
  • Ensure assessments are in line with clients' needs, preferences, and goals.
  • Guide the team in using participatory planning methods and help implement plans that achieve the best results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services and provide professional development for your team members.
  • Ensure individuals with complex behavioral health needs get the support they need to thrive in the community.
  • Regularly assess and enhance care and service delivery, ensuring alignment with UHBH’s strategic plan.
  • Keep up with the latest knowledge and trends through ongoing education and professional involvement.
  • Lead by example, ensuring services meet clients' physical, emotional, educational, and safety needs.
  • Make sure all team members maintain their required certifications, licenses, and the necessary documentation.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and cultural awareness within the department.
  • Maintain a helpful and professional attitude toward patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Stay current on relevant regulations and comply with the Corporate Compliance Plan, including required training and activities.

University Health is an academic health system with two acute-care hospitals, a large behavioral health program, a long-term care facility, and multiple primary care clinics. It delivers inpatient, emergency, surgical, and outpatient care through a connected network and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where doctors also train tomorrow’s physicians. Its downtown campus houses a Level One Trauma Center, and the system includes specialty centers like a cancer center, eye center, imaging, and a Family Birthplace. The goal is to provide accessible, high-quality care for the community, educate future healthcare professionals, and improve health outcomes for all patients.
