ECC Veterinary Nurse – Veterinary Referral Hospital (VRH), Dandenong VIC

Are you an experienced veterinary nurse looking to step into referral and Emergency & Critical Care, or an ECC nurse looking for your next challenge?

We are on the hunt for some unicorn nurses to join our growing ECC team! We are particularly seeking experienced nurses available for part-time evening, overnight and weekend shifts, with weekend availability being our primary staffing requirement.

At VRH, you’ll be working with state-of-the-art equipment including mechanical ventilators, high-flow nasal oxygen, species-specific oxygen cages, a dedicated Critical Care Unit, CT, MRI and endoscopy. You’ll have access to the very best equipment to help you deliver exceptional nursing care.

As an ECC nurse, you’ll work closely alongside specialists and clinicians in:

• Critical Care
• Neurology
• Anaesthesia
• Surgery
• Internal Medicine
• Radiology
• Oncology (coming soon!)

Emergency and Critical Care plays a vital role in supporting patients across the entire referral service. You’ll be involved in the management of complex medical, surgical and neurological cases, caring for patients before, during and after advanced procedures and working collaboratively with specialists to achieve the best possible outcomes.

About the Role

ECC nursing at VRH includes:

• ICU and Critical Care nursing
• Emergency and hospital nursing
• Triage and patient stabilisation
• Anaesthesia monitoring and support
• Management of a diverse and challenging caseload

Whether you’re an experienced ECC nurse or an experienced GP nurse keen to learn, we provide the training, support and guidance needed to succeed. Experienced GP nurses looking to transition into referral and emergency are strongly encouraged to apply.

What We’re Looking For

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience as a veterinary nurse
• Confidence monitoring general anaesthesia, including ECG, SpO₂, ETCO₂ and blood pressure monitoring
• A willingness to learn, grow and develop your skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• Passion for providing exceptional patient care
• Availability for overnight, weekend and public holiday shifts
• Previous emergency or referral experience is highly regarded but not essential.

Positions Available

We are particularly seeking part-time nurses to support our evening, overnight and weekend roster, with weekend shifts representing our primary area of recruitment.
