- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a section supervisor in a hospital laboratory setting is required.
- Perform a wide range of routine and complex laboratory analyses on inpatient and outpatient specimens.
- Ensure that all activities comply with acceptable clinical technology, administrative policy, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and medical ethics.
- Correlate and interpret data based on in-depth knowledge of technical, instrumental, and physiological conditions affecting test results.
- A baccalaureate degree in a biological or physical science, or Medical Technology training with at least six years of current laboratory training or experience, is required; alternatively, the candidate must have previously qualified or could have qualified as a General Supervisor under 42 CFR 493.1427 on or before February 28, 1992, and have at least six years of current laboratory training and experience.
- One of the following credentials or an equivalent is required: MT (ASCP), MT (HHS), CLS (NCA), or M (ASCP).
- Ability to communicate effectively with all age levels served within the scope of the position and assigned areas.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to workplace health and safety, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Under the direction of the Laboratory Director and with input from the Chief Pathologist, develop plans and direct, coordinate, and control all activities of the Blood Bank and Therapeutic Phlebotomy to ensure efficient operation of the section.
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Positive interpersonal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
