Sandisk approves $14B buyback, bringing total authorisation to $15.5B — 8.6% of company

Sandisk reported fiscal fourth-quarter results and announced a $14 billion share repurchase programme, bringing its total buyback authorisation to $15.5 billion — approximately 8.6% of the company's $181 billion market value. The memory maker's fiscal 2026 revenue surged 175% to $20.2 billion, whilst it swung from a $1.6 billion net loss to $11.4 billion net income. Operating cash flow jumped to $11.7 billion from $84 million the previous year. Pricing drove most of the growth, with datacenter revenue rising 437% year-over-year as AI infrastructure buildouts increased demand for NAND flash storage. The company paid off long-term debt and ended the year with $4.8 billion in cash. Sandisk had already spent $4.5 billion of a previous $6 billion buyback programme approved in April.

SanDisk shares drop 10% premarket despite record $9B revenue and $14B buyback plan as analysts flag pricing concerns

SanDisk shares fell over 10% in pre-market trading Thursday following analyst price target cuts despite the company reporting record quarterly revenue and announcing a $14 billion buyback programme. Citi lowered its price target to $2,100 from $2,500 whilst maintaining a 'Buy' rating, citing "more muted" pricing expectations for the September quarter. Wells Fargo reduced its target to $1,400 from $1,620 with an 'Equal Weight' rating, pointing to valuation concerns after the stock's recent rally. The company reported fourth-quarter revenue of $8.97 billion, nearly five times higher than the year-ago period, driven by increased cloud infrastructure spending. However, its outlook for first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $10.3 billion to $10.8 billion disappointed some analysts. Retail investors on Stocktwits remained "extremely bullish" on the shares.
