- A GED is required; a college degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in third-party logistics or freight brokerage is required.
- The employee must work in the office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed is required to keep loads on schedule and resolve issues.
Responsibilities
- Book loads and cover freight with carriers for assigned customer sales teams through inbound and outbound phone calls, freight boards, and other methods.
- Vet and negotiate with carriers.
- Build a carrier book of business to establish reliable capacity for regular lanes.
- Manage loads from dispatch through delivery and provide updates to the customer sales team according to company procedure.
- Secure backup carriers and minimize carrier falloffs.
- Resolve carrier and load issues and communicate them to the customer sales team and external stakeholders when necessary.
- Prioritize and plan customer sales teams’ freight coverage needs with minimal oversight across same-day, weekly, next-week, and next-month scenarios.
