Requirements
  • A BS or AAS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience improving processes with automatic post-molding systems such as trimmers, labelers, inspection systems, palletizing, and case packing is required.
  • At least 8 years of combined experience as a service technician, controls engineer, project manager, or plant engineer is required.
  • Prior experience with programmable logic controllers, including Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and B&R, and servo control systems is required.
  • Experience in full lifecycle system implementation and integration is required.
  • Working knowledge of analytical and statistical quality tools is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, computer-aided design, and automation software is required.
  • Ability to write clear technical documents, reports, specifications, and change bulletins is required.
  • Functional understanding of industrial safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout, Energy Control, and Electrical Safety, is required.
  • Ability to motivate and engage both hourly and salaried personnel is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on engineering support and deploy post-molding process solutions.
  • Assess and recommend technical solutions to improve machine efficiency, reliability, and uptime.
  • Participate in installations, factory and plant acceptance tests, and system commissioning.
  • Build or repurpose automatic trimming and packaging systems using new or existing hardware and software.
  • Provide reliability input for capital project activities.
  • Review equipment specifications and vendor quotes to ensure performance requirements are met.
  • Create technical work instructions, machine audits, and documentation for operation and maintenance.
  • Provide 24/7 remote technical support for plant operations as needed.
  • Lead and support standardization efforts across vertical units.
  • Use analytical tools, statistical methods, and problem-solving frameworks such as A3 and 8D to address issues.
  • Use data-driven methods to track progress and sustain improvements.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records, reports, and action plans for short- and long-term issue resolution.
  • Conduct classroom and on-the-floor training for trimming and packaging systems.
  • Train plant personnel on operational procedures such as changeovers and system adjustments.
  • Collaborate with plant operations and engineering teams to ensure optimal performance and alignment.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across teams.
  • Submit weekly reports on engineering hours, travel, and expenses.
  • Maintain working knowledge of major post-molding packaging platforms, including Zecchetti, OMS, Schneider, Autotec, Lectro, Lyle, Maer, Mueller, and Uniloy.

Graham Packaging names Katy Vu as new CFO. Rachel Curry, Contributing Writer//May 15, 2026// Graham Packaging, which manufactures rigid plastic packaging and containers, announced on May 4 the appointment of Katy Vu as the new chief financial officer. Vu previously served as CFO for Bunzl North America, a division of global distribution and services company Bunzl PLC. She managed financials for the nearly $9 billion business and helped drive more than 20 acquisitions for the company. Founded in 1970, Graham is headquartered in Lancaster with a flagship manufacturing location in York. The company produces 15 billion containers per year across more than 60 global locations. "Katy has spent more than 15 years leading global finance and business operations with a strong track record of driving performance, growth and operational excellence," Bob Pyle, president and CEO of Graham Packaging, said in a statement. "Her ability to partner across organizations, apply strong analytical insights and build high-performing teams will be instrumental as we execute our strategy and deliver value for our customers." Vu holds a bachelor of science in economics and international development from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom and an executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA). Vu succeeds Kris Warfel, who will transition to president of Graham's Food & Beverage business.
