Requirements
  • General knowledge of the plumbing trade sufficient to provide routine assistance to journey-level plumbers, and working knowledge of plumbing trade tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to operate a sewer jetter using established procedures and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English text to understand work orders, reports, and operating instructions, and communicate effectively with coworkers and staff.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work in dirty, noisy, wet, humid, fluctuating, and extreme indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Ability to stand, crawl, walk, stoop, push, pull, and lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier objects.
  • Working knowledge of standard safe work practices.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California noncommercial Class C driver's license.
  • Must complete satisfactory background, Live Scan, physical examination, and driving-record checks, and pass color vision testing.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Responsibilities
  • Run the sewer jet to machine-clean sewer and storm drains.
  • Clean sediment traps in waste systems.
  • Use and maintain sewer jet equipment appropriately.
  • Install and maintain piping systems and fixtures as instructed.
  • Perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alteration, and repair tasks related to plumbing and building systems and facilities equipment.
  • Perform other routine or semi-skilled construction-trade duties normally performed by a Facilities Worker.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to make minor repairs, replacements, or installations using a variety of trade skills and equipment or tools.
  • Ability to operate a drain-line video camera and pipe-depth locator.
  • Certification in hazardous-material abatement, including asbestos, lead, and mold.
