Tia Health runs a telehealth platform in Canada that connects residents with licensed physicians for non-emergency care through video or phone consultations. Its service covers prescription renewals, specialist referrals, and medical advice, and it uses a direct-to-consumer model. In Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, visits are covered by provincial health plans, making the service free for eligible residents; elsewhere, a fee-for-service option is available. The dual revenue model enables broad reach across provinces. The platform digitizes the consultation process to provide convenient, timely access to healthcare and aims to reduce wait times associated with traditional clinics, positioning itself in Canada’s growing telehealth market.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Tia's free access in three provinces lowers acquisition costs and expands usage.
  • WELL's 2026 telehealth portfolio keeps Tia inside a larger Canadian healthcare distribution machine.
  • Telehealth demand stays durable as patients avoid walk-in waits and secure faster prescriptions.

What critics are saying

  • Provincial payer rules can change quickly, crushing reimbursement economics in Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia.
  • WELL can reallocate capital toward higher-return assets, starving Tia of product investment.
  • If specialty referrals and prescription renewals commoditize, Maple and Telus Health can squeeze margins.

What makes Tia Health unique

  • WELL Health owns Tia Health since 2020, backing Canadian telehealth with distribution and capital.
  • Tia offers covered visits in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, reducing patient friction.
  • Tia combines virtual doctors, referrals, prescriptions, and pharmacy delivery across Canada.
