Requirements
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Must be available to work weekends and some holidays.
  • Must be available for an early morning start time at 7:00 AM.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be dependable.
  • Must be able to operate related computer applications and business equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and an extensive background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work involving bending, squatting, leaning, and moving plates to span rail cars.
  • Must be able to see and hear moving equipment.
  • Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Must be able to learn and follow strict guidelines and instruct employees to do the same.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that company and customer policies and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of unloaders and checkpoint personnel, including scheduling and working with trucking companies.
  • Monitor and assist with unloader performance while actively participating in unloading processes.
  • Monitor checkpoint procedures for inventory control, including scanning out loaded inventory.
  • Maintain communication between the company and railroad customers.
  • Respond to customer needs as schedules vary from day to day to ensure compliance.
  • Promote and practice safety awareness.
  • Complete daily reporting and communicate with the customer.
  • Work outdoors safely in all types of weather conditions.
  • Adjust rail cars safely to set up unloading.
  • Move vehicles safely off rail cars for pickup or shipment.
  • Drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles, including oversized vehicles.
  • Work in tight and narrow spaces.
  • Participate in job briefings with supervisors and crew before work begins.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including a safety vest or high-visibility shirt, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toe boots.
  • Maintain clear communication with crew members while moving vehicles.
  • Inspect rail equipment and vehicles for damage and immediately notify the operator and supervisor of any damage.
  • Handle rail equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain awareness and organization within the auto yard, including attention to potholes, debris, and slippery surfaces.
