A Day in the Life
In Digital Technologies (DT), part of Medtronic’s Medical Surgical Portfolio, we believe patients around the world deserve access to quality care and improved outcomes. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Supplier/Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in New Product Development (NPD) Systems Engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within the medical device industry. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the development and maintenance of high-quality, reliable, and safe medical devices that meet or exceed regulatory standards and customer expectations.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Conducts supplier selection, assessments, quality system audits and supplier part and process qualification (PPAP).
- Responsible for the component qualification process, FAI, and manufacturability assessment.
- Lead design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) discussion with Medtronic design team and supply base.
- Assures supplier compliance to relevant quality and regulatory standards.
- Provides feedback to design teams regarding suppliers’ capabilities, tolerance, specifications, measurement, and test methodologies.
- Is a liaison between NPD teams and suppliers on technical and/or quality issues.
- Works directly with suppliers to achieve goals including some travel on short notice.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Electronics Engineering, or related field + 4 years’ experience or Advanced Degree + 2 years’ experience.
- Expertise/experience in Magnetics and Electrical/Electronics (e.g. PCBA, Flex Circuits, Power Supply, etc.) or expertise/experience in Injection Molding, Machining, Die Cast, Stamping, Extrusion, MIM, etc
- New Product Development Processes
- Ability to work with a supplier on requirements, specifications, process improvements, and capability studies.
- Background in Six-Sigma, LEAN, DFSS and related quality management tools
- • Ability to resolve complex problems requiring detailed data analysis, calculation, or experimentation.
