Requirements
  • Current law student expected to graduate in 2027 or 2026 (Current 1L or 2L) with a strong record of academic performance
  • High-level legal research and drafting skills commensurate with the level of legal education to date
  • Eagerness to learn about in-house counsel roles and legal issues relevant to our business
Responsibilities
  • Assist the in-house legal department, advising the business on various legal matters
  • Partner with legal staff on a rotating basis with respect to projects that may include Litigation, Liens, International Law, Contracts, Employment, Privacy/Cybersecurity, and Insurance
  • Work on short-term and summer-long projects impacting the business and present their conclusions
  • Interact with and be mentored by legal team members
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting the company and energy industry
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents for review and use by attorneys
  • Sit in on meetings and calls with stakeholders and opposing parties
  • Assist with reviewing, analyzing, and revising commercial contracts, including service, vendor, and non-disclosure agreements
  • Support in-house counsel in contract negotiations in collaboration with client operations, sales team, and business stakeholders
  • Assist in managing contract templates and maintaining version control
  • Collaborate with internal business teams to gather contract-related information and requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments on contract provisions, including indemnification, limitation of liability, and termination rights
  • Conduct multi-state legal research on labor & employment laws
  • Assist in drafting corporate policies
