Requirements
  • Experience in United States healthcare, health insurance, claims operations, or employee benefits with working knowledge of the claims lifecycle, adjudication, and payment processes.
  • At least 5 years of product management experience, including ownership of a product roadmap and strategy from discovery through launch.
  • Ability to draft clear, detailed business requirements and user stories and serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate complex operational rules into structured product requirements.
  • Experience managing a product backlog and roadmap, setting priorities, and communicating timeline tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across business, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment where tools and processes are still being built.
  • Ability to support United States business hours, with flexibility for cross-functional and vendor meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Define and own the product vision and strategy for the claims processing platform in partnership with Engineering, Claims Operations, and executive stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain the product roadmap for the claims platform, including adjudication logic, pricing, electronic data interchange transactions, and payment features.
  • Set timeline goals and milestones for the claims build while balancing business urgency, technical feasibility, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Translate long-term strategy into sprint-level priorities and communicate tradeoffs to leadership when scope, timeline, or resourcing conflicts arise.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical or engineering team throughout the claims build.
  • Draft business requirements and user stories for claims adjudication, pricing, electronic data interchange transaction handling, and claim adjustment workflows.
  • Translate claims processing rules into requirements engineers can build against, including CARC/RARC and group codes, duplicate detection, accumulator management, medical necessity edits, correct-coding logic, workflow design, and business rules.
  • Partner with engineering on solution design, review technical approaches for feasibility, and flag business risk or compliance concerns.
  • Own acceptance criteria and participate in user acceptance testing to confirm delivered functionality meets business intent before release.
  • Conduct discovery with cross-functional teams to identify pain points, edge cases, and process gaps in current claims handling.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and dependencies to ensure successful releases.
  • Own and groom the product backlog, prioritizing features and fixes based on business impact, regulatory requirements, and platform dependencies.
  • Define and track success metrics for the claims platform, including accuracy, turnaround time, auto-adjudication rate, and denial or appeal volume.
  • Collaborate with Claims Operations, EDI, Network, Compliance, Legal, and client-facing teams to ensure the platform reflects operational and contractual needs.
  • Partner with vendor management and clearinghouse or EDI partners on transaction standards, connectivity, and migration workstreams.
  • Coordinate with Data, Analytics, and Reporting teams to support downstream reporting, audit, and regulatory needs.
  • Communicate roadmap status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and leadership across the organization.
  • Plan and support release management, including phased rollouts, provider or client communication, and training materials for internal teams.
  • Monitor platform performance and user feedback after launch and maintain a continuous improvement backlog.
  • Identify recurring issues, platform gaps, and process inefficiencies and drive resolution with the technical team.
  • Document product decisions, business requirements, and process changes to support institutional knowledge and audit needs.
  • Collaborate outside standard hours when needed to support key releases or milestones.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with claims adjudication platforms, claims pricing engines, and electronic data interchange transaction standards, including 837, 835, 834, and 277.
  • Familiarity with CARC/RARC denial coding, UB-04 and CMS-1500 claim forms, and claims adjustment workflows.
  • Experience working with self-funded health plans, third-party administrators, or value-based care organizations.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum product development practices and tools.
  • Experience partnering with clearinghouses, payer portals, or claims vendors.

Paymedix Launches Partnership With Benefits Platform Xo Health

Healthcare financing firm PayMedix has teamed with care/benefits platform XO Health.The partnership gives XO Health’s network of self-insured employers, third-party administrators and value-based providers access to PayMedix’s healthcare financing solution, according to a Tuesday (Feb. 4) news release.“Our mission has always been to improve people’s ability to access and afford healthcare when they need it, while simultaneously removing the complexity and administrative burden of bill collection and processing from providers, and simplifying billing for patients,” PayMedix CEO Tom Policelli said in the release.“Our partnership with XO Health aligns with this mission. We’re disrupting the way people access and pay for healthcare together.”According to the release, the partnership gives XO Health members access to PayMedix’s interest-free payment plans, which cover all in-network medical bills, up to their out-of-pocket maximum.
