Guidewire’s development team is looking for an inquisitive, proactive, and results-oriented SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) to test elegant solutions for the property & casualty insurance industry’s complex business domain and make our industry-leading products even better. The team is looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about testing high quality software with a great team and improving the customer experience for millions of people who use our products every day.
As an SDET, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our industry-leading enterprise and SAAS software. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive set of automation tests using Guidewire testing frameworks and tools.

Successful SDET at Guidewire typically have:
- A passion for building quality into everything we do throughout the whole development cycle
- Curiosity and internal motivation to constantly learn and improve
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Work closely with Product Management and development engineers to understand features and contribute to the design of test plans and robust test cases
- Hands-on experience designing and developing test automation
- Maintain and update automated tests for continuous regression testing
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and defend them based on merit while remaining open to learning from others
- Excellent collaboration abilities, working effectively within cross-functional teams
- Proficient in manual testing techniques
- Experience in setting up and managing test environments
- Familiarity with testing microservices
Key qualifications include experience with:
- Strong experience in software testing, test automation, and quality assurance.
- Experience in creating test plans, test cases, and doing risk analysis prior to product releases
- Understanding of software testing methodologies, best practices, and test automation strategies
- Experience in developing automated tests and/or frameworks using Java, Javascript or an equivalent object-oriented language
- Industry standard API Framework/Tools (Karate, Postman)
- Industry standard UI testing frameworks (TestCafe, Selenium, Cypress)
- 3rd party software integrations (REST APIs, XML, JSON)
- Tools (NPM, Gradle, TeamCity, Jenkins, Jira, XRay)
Knowledge of these technologies is a bonus:
- Experience working with Kotlin code
- Behavior Driven testing (Cucumber, Gherkin)
- Experience working with tools such as Datadog, Docker etc.
- Cloud services such as AWS
- Operating Systems (Unix, Windows, MacOS)
