Requirements
  • Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience is required
  • Proficiency in leveraging data to support decision-making processes and drive operational improvements
  • Background in data analytics, including experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and advanced analytic techniques in a Department of Defense setting
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex data insights to senior Navy leaders
  • Strong attention to detail, adherence to standards, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Familiarity with data sources and systems commonly used in the naval environment
  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Office suite of tools (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • The ability to travel up to 10%
Responsibilities
  • Perform initial analysis and preparation work for the Availability Duration Scorecard (ADS) Quarterly Review
  • Assist the team effort of calculating projected categorical Navy Surface ship maintenance and modernization availability durations that are based on the ADS Model and presented quarterly across for review
  • Organize material, perform data analytics, and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Create and/or update databases and spreadsheet-analysis data in electronic formats to include, but not limited to, availability planning, availability duration estimation, shipyard capacity, execution status, and financial and budget status
  • Gather and analyze technical information from various sources and create EXCEL/ SQL queries to retrieve specific information and parameters from database(s)
  • Apply data mining techniques to large data sets to identify patterns, relationships and behaviors
  • Analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from data, and identify problems, solutions and opportunities using the analysis
  • Create and deliver graphical representations to best display information and convey concepts, to include but not limited to compelling interactive briefings, reports, and dashboards via Microsoft Teams (FlankSpeed) or an NMCI approved, compatible platform
  • Interpret and analyze data, behaviors and processes, trends and situations and recommended solutions
  • Understand and articulate root causes. Ensure analytics are usable, actionable, and valuable for today and predictive of the future
  • Lead working groups, analytical teams, forums, and Surface Ship readiness exercises, developing and maintaining storyline and graphics
  • Provide programmatic management and planning support services
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with data visualization using Power BI and Tableau
  • Knowledge/experience with ship Navy Maintenance, Modernization with depot level overhauls
  • Education or certification in data analytics, computer science, or a related field is preferred
  • Algorithm writing experience with Python and similar AI/ML languages desired
