Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in transportation management, preferably within a third-party logistics or logistics company, is required.
  • Proven leadership experience developing high-performing teams is required.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement transportation management strategies supporting business objectives and growth targets.
  • Identify process improvements, cost savings, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead transportation network design and optimization projects to improve service levels and reduce costs.
  • Oversee daily transportation department operations, including dispatch, route planning, load management, and freight optimization.
  • Manage the end-to-end transportation process to ensure on-time delivery, service quality, and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Lead the transportation team and foster accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customer contacts.
  • Manage customer business using standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews based on agreed service standards and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain carrier relationships and negotiate contracts, rates, and service terms.
  • Monitor carrier performance using key performance indicators and metrics, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Develop and manage the department budget to align financial performance with company goals.
  • Monitor and report transportation costs, identify trends, and implement expense-control strategies.
  • Manage customer relationships, contracts, and rates to protect company profitability while delivering customer value.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and hours-of-service requirements.
  • Oversee safety initiatives, implement risk-management strategies, and promote safety across the transportation team.
  • Implement and leverage transportation management systems and other technology platforms to improve efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with information technology and operations teams to enhance system capabilities and streamline transportation processes.
  • Monitor industry trends and advise the company and customers on continuous business improvement.
  • Leverage relationships to deliver high-quality service at competitive rates.
