Requirements
  • A BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date.
  • A Registered Medical Assistant specialization or Certified Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within 90 days of the hire date or job transfer date.
  • A high school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience is required.
  • Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience when applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider.
  • Assist with provider-ordered treatment under the supervision of the provider or a registered nurse and perform selected clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, record patient information in charts, and prepare examination rooms.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Order and stock supplies, assist with materials management, and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document provider encounters when requested, record diagnoses and symptoms, and enter follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the provider.
  • Transcribe provider orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
