  • Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics (Economics), Data Science or related, and ten years of related experience. In the alternative, employer will accept Master's in Statistics, Econometrics (Economics), Data Science or related, and seven years of related experience. Employer will also accept a PhD in Statistics, Econometrics (Economics), Data Science or related, and five years of related experience
  • Travel required: approximately 10% international travel required to meet with talent organizations
  • Telecommuting permitted; must reside with NYC metropolitan area
  • Analytical thinking and analysis on large user generated data sets (50,000 people or more) related to evaluating exceptional talent and skills-based assessments
  • Project Management for complex, interdisciplinary initiatives with at least $3M budgets or 5 employees combining data science, software engineering, and talent management
  • Data science techniques and applications applied to talent analytics and science
  • Leading teams, mentoring junior technical team members, and setting goals
  • Algorithmic development and research agenda setting for interdisciplinary subjects related to talent science and evaluation, combining data science, human resources, people analytics and psychology
  • Talent research sector, including building relationships with researchers and university-based teams
  • Lead statistical research into the identification of talent and the efficacy of FAN's talent development program and other initiatives, as well as other managerial and technical grantmaking responsibilities
  • Utilizes his statistical and problem-solving skills for both conceptual and analytical problems; experience with data management and deployment including advanced research, quantitative modeling, and analytical skills; and skill in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data using surveys, mathematical models, and statistical techniques to help lead the organization's strategy, deployment, and program development around data in order to inform FAN's work across all portfolio verticals
  • Applies statistical expertise to lead the sourcing, analysis, evaluation, and due diligence of potential grants, initiatives, and investments involving data
  • Works directly with other members of the FAN team to design, develop, and build new programs and products to advance FAN's mission while supporting strategic and operational planning
  • Responsible for program design and evaluation, including generating data science-based ideas for current and future programs
  • Data analysis and statistical methods to review and analyze program proposals, plans, and results in development to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness
  • Identifies new opportunities for FAN to develop program areas, leveraging data for public good, and he performs research and conducts interviews with experts to determine whether the problems they are seeking to address would benefit from FAN's approach
  • Responsible for data management and analysis of gifts, grants, investments, and programs
  • Uses data analysis and statistical tools to review gifts, grants, investments, and programs in development or underway to identify opportunities to improve their impact, and he recommends data strategies, methods, partnerships, and other resources that could be used to strengthen impact
  • Uses statistical techniques, metrics, and data to analyze the impact of work completed against goals, and he builds, manages, and maintains databases to inform and direct investments, grants, and other programs and initiatives
  • Collects and processes measurements of implementation across portfolio areas, analyzing the impact of projects against predefined metrics; develops and implements data management policies and practices; streamlines data collection and analysis procedures; and establishes relationships, partnerships, and joint initiatives with external stakeholders such as organizations or experts to ameliorate organizational data management capacities
  • Responsible for strategic and operational planning support
  • Recommends potential strategies, methods, partnerships, and other resources that FAN or beneficiaries could use to strengthen their work and its impact; participates in the mentorship and development of Associate Program Managers and other Associates on the team; and develops training plans to teach the team data science principles and statistical techniques relevant to the work of the organization
  • The successful candidate will also launch and operate talent-oriented programs that draw upon data science and statistical analysis in order to support the organization in meeting its overall goals
  • The Director, Data Science will supervise two data scientists
