Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.
  • A license to practice as a Speech/Language Pathologist in the state or states where services are provided is required.
  • The role requires strong relationship, interpersonal, oral and written communication, problem-solving, analytical, critical evaluation, technology, cultural awareness, ethical practice, independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality skills.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients for rehabilitation services within 24 to 48 hours of physician orders.
  • Develop effective treatment plans.
  • Treat patients according to the treatment plan of care.
  • Communicate pertinent information concerning patient progress, problems, and plans to physicians, clinical managers, healthcare team members, patients or families, and facility staff.
  • Participate in care conference meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Participate in in-service training programs for facility staff.
  • Record evaluations, treatment notes, and progress notes; provide objective input for discharge summaries; and complete daily billing of services according to policy and procedure.
  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Achieve or exceed the minimum productivity standard established by the company.
  • Recommend equipment to appropriate personnel to facilitate improved delivery of clinical services.
  • Report department equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Act as a clinical supervisor for affiliating Speech/Language Pathology graduate clinicians from area universities and colleges.
  • Comply with state-specific Speech Pathology licensure standards.
  • Maintain an organized working environment.
  • Represent the company's mission, vision, core values, cornerstones, and professional image while exercising good judgment.
  • Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
