Requirements
  • A college degree or diploma in a related area, or broad training in a related field acquired through high school and work-related experience.
  • Training or teaching qualification to at least Train the Trainer level.
  • At least 5 years of experience operating in can manufacturing.
  • Experience using basic problem-solving techniques and Lean fundamentals.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural teams.
  • At least 3 years in a comparable position with demonstrated expertise in quality assurance, customer support, and relevant products.
  • Strong knowledge of the full can-making process and subject-matter expertise in at least one specific area.

  • Strong capability in equipment setup, troubleshooting, optimization, and supporting line performance.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve efficiency and spoilage targets for all new builds, new lines, and line conversions in alignment with approved start-up curves, ensuring rapid progression to stable and capable operations.
  • Lead quality performance during the start-up phase, taking responsibility for delivering compliant, consistent, and specification-conforming product from first production through handover.
  • Ensure product quality and food safety compliance by continuously monitoring processes, materials, and outputs during start-up and taking immediate action on deviations.
  • Oversee inspections and audits, ensuring the local quality team executes process checks, material inspections, and finished product audits to required standards.
  • Maintain, calibrate, validate, and monitor gauges, inspection devices, and measurement equipment to ensure reliable quality verification, serving as operational support across Ball EMEA.
  • Track quality trends and performance indicators, identify early signals of variation, and initiate corrective or preventive actions to stabilize and improve process capability.
  • Support the Plant Quality Manager with implementation and maintenance of ISO, HACCP, and other regulatory or customer-driven food safety and quality systems.
  • Support execution of standard operating procedures, statistical process control, and other quality management tools during ramp-up.
  • Train production and quality staff in process understanding, quality expectations, defect prevention, inspection standards, and food safety practices.
  • Ensure trained backups are available for critical quality and food safety roles to maintain operational continuity during and after start-up.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and suppliers to prevent defects, reduce variability, and strengthen process quality throughout start-up.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality and food safety data to support decision-making, performance improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints during the launch period, including root-cause analysis, corrective action, and supplier quality improvement.
  • Support new product or design introductions by ensuring quality and food safety requirements are met from trials through full-scale production.
  • Deliver training to site personnel on process fundamentals and performance expectations during recruitment and throughout the start-up period.
  • Provide emergency breakdown support, applying diagnostic capability to restore operations and protect quality and performance during critical phases.
  • Support size conversions by ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient changeovers and building local team capability for ongoing execution.
  • Identify and share best practices, capturing lessons learned to improve future equipment builds, start-up performance, and long-term operational excellence.
  • Support implementation of BOE standards to level 3 for safety, quality, business management, and maintenance pillar elements within the assignment scope.

Ball Corporation has appointed Darlene J. Nicosia and Sherry L. Buck to its board of directors. Nicosia is CEO of Maker's Pride, a US contract packaged food manufacturer, bringing over 30 years of operational experience from roles at Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Kraft Foods Group. She will serve on the Nominating/Corporate Governance Committee and Finance Committee. Buck retired as chief financial officer of W. L. Gore & Associates in 2025 after five years in the role. She previously held CFO positions at Waters Corporation and Libbey, and spent nearly two decades at Whirlpool Corporation. Buck will join the Audit Committee and Finance Committee. Two Luzerne County firms secure $860K in state energy grants to cut costs and emissions

Two Luzerne County businesses will receive more than $860,000 in state grants for energy efficiency projects. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded Ball Corporation $365,268 and A Rifken Company $495,000 through the RISE PA programme. Ball Corporation will install equipment to capture waste heat for manufacturing, projected to save approximately $75,697 annually. A Rifken Company will replace its solar system with one three times larger, expected to offset 30.4% of the facility's electricity consumption and save roughly $30,654 yearly. The awards form part of nearly $3.5 million distributed to 15 small businesses statewide. RISE PA is a $396 million emissions-reduction programme funded through the US Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants.

Ball reports Q2 2026 earnings up 14.4% with $1.03 diluted EPS, targets $900M free cash flow

Ball Corporation reported strong second quarter 2026 results, with comparable diluted earnings per share of $1.03, up 14.4% from 90 cents in 2025. Comparable operating earnings rose 7.7% to $433 million from $402 million year-over-year. Global aluminium packaging shipments increased 4.3% in the quarter. The company returned $222 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends in the first half of 2026, remaining on track to return at least $800 million by year-end. Ball expects comparable diluted earnings per share growth of more than 10% in 2026 and free cash flow exceeding $900 million. Second quarter sales reached $4.00 billion, compared to $3.34 billion in 2025. The Westminster, Colorado-based packaging company serves beverage, personal care, and household products industries globally.
