Requirements
  • Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday and one or more evenings per week.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in program or project management, community engagement, or outreach.
  • Experience working with children, teens, and adults.
  • Demonstrated project management, problem analysis, data analysis, planning, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment and work with organizations and community partners.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and internet research.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough institutions and organizations, or Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and Western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support the missions of Iḷisaġvik College and Tuzzy Consortium Library.
  • Stable employment history.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain current library programs, including Summer Reading, weekly Storytimes, and Crafternoon.
  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement new library programs for children, teens, families, students, staff, and faculty.
  • Collaborate with community partners, schools, community organizations, government agencies, and other groups to provide library outreach programs and services.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop marketing materials supporting programming needs.
  • Collaborate with the Community Outreach Coordinator/Manager and Director of Indigenization on outreach programming needs.
  • Manage program budgets, compile program and event statistics, prepare reports, and maintain activity records.
  • Coordinate library facility room requests and maintain the room reservation Outlook Calendar.
  • Assist with front-desk staffing and library circulation activities, including checking materials in and out, answering basic reference questions and telephone calls, checking periodicals and library email, shelving materials, and maintaining collection orderliness.
  • Assist with library projects such as inventory, weeding, sorting donations, and updating patron accounts.
  • Assist with collection development and maintenance, including selection, acquisition, and de-selection of library materials.
  • Assist the Copy Cataloger with processing incoming and outgoing Alaska Library Catalog holds and local processing of library materials.
  • Participate in professional development training and library conferences as requested.
  • Comply with College policies, procedures, administrative directives, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of library work experience.
  • At least one year of experience working with children, teens, and adults.
  • Valid driver’s license.
