The Role:
The Content Operations Associate plays a key role in ensuring that Newsela’s team of content-producing staff have everything they need in place to meet their deliverables and develop a superior content product. This is achieved through two core competencies: the development of smart, scalable systems and the cultivation of an engaged, enabled freelancer network. On the systems side, you will be responsible for revamping our existing content production workflows and for setting up new workflows to accommodate new product initiatives. You will also be a trusted resource for staff who need troubleshooting when production issues arise. Additionally, you’ll proactively identify production breakdowns and inefficiencies that others may have missed or simply grown used to. The processes you implement among your fellow Content department staff will ultimately allow us to scale and optimize our custom content production efforts, strengthening efficiency and contributing to a positive esprit de corps. The other main component of your role will involve the recruitment, onboarding and enablement of contributors who work with Newsela on a freelance basis. Through your outreach and program management, you will ensure that for whatever kind of content we seek to develop, we have the right people available and enthusiastic to contribute to our projects.
Why you’ll love this role:
- You’ll have the opportunity to recruit, onboard, train, engage, and invoice freelance content contributors
- You will troubleshoot and track user reported issues during the content creation/publishing process
- You’ll create clear documentation for new or updated processes
- Your work will support Content Services Project Management, system maintenance and operations
- You’ll work cross-functionally with Content Services contributors, C&I, and editorial team to ensure 100% of Custom Collection orders are fulfilled on-time
Why you’re a great fit:
- You have 2+ years of experience managing projects and processes
- You possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced work environment
- You’re comfortable with technology and the use of various software applications
- You are an effective communicator in verbal and written formats
