  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physical Sciences preferred
  • Advanced degree highly desirable
  • 10+ years of experience in applied Engineering or Physical Sciences with 5 years in project management and supervisory responsibilities
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in geotechnical engineering or environmental services consulting business
  • Active membership in professional and civic organizations
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and delegating
  • Experience in staffing, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary professional staff
  • Effective use of scheduling and cost control techniques
  • Ability to motivate and train staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Projects a positive image of the Company and colleagues at client negotiations, conferences, technical meetings, and within the office
  • Signs letters, proposals, and reports bearing professional stamp
  • Responsible for work assigned to the Branch regarding professional liability and contractual obligations
  • Deals directly with clients and prospective clients in business development, proposals, contracts or agreements, and technical matters
  • Provides guidance, training, and instruction to subordinates
  • Plans Branch strategy in conjunction with Group Managers to meet Company goals
  • Responsible for costs of the Branch and adherence to Branch budgets and utilization goals
  • Responsible for the profitability of projects assigned to the Branch
  • Counsels and reviews work of project teams
  • Surveys marketplace to identify new clients and markets for Company services
  • Plans and supervises Staff Development program
  • Motivates subordinates to accept increasing responsibility and develops viable candidates for Project Management
  • Prepares performance evaluations for direct staff and reviews performance evaluation data for others in the Branch with assigned supervisors prior and subsequent to evaluation meeting
