Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience developing and shipping mechanical products.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree is preferred; relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens NX is required.
  • Deep knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and production-level drawing release practices.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing parts into production and shipping hardware.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, die casting, gear manufacturing and finishing, high-precision machining, injection molding, or other scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to work directly with suppliers to resolve tolerance, yield, and quality issues.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems and metrics, including incoming quality control, outgoing quality control, ongoing reliability testing, process capability, process capability index, and statistical process control.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and a collaborative, systems-level mindset.
Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical system design and integration across complex, multi-domain programs.
  • Own a subsystem end-to-end, from architecture and concept through production release.
  • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical assemblies in Siemens NX.
  • Drive early design for manufacturability, design for assembly, automated design for assembly, and design for cost decisions to ensure designs scale to production.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing fundamentals to create production-ready drawings and specifications.
  • Partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams to industrialize parts, including first article builds and production ramp.
  • Define inspection approaches and use manufacturing metrics including incoming quality control, outgoing quality control, ongoing reliability testing, process capability, process capability index, tolerance stack-ups, and validation.
  • Support prototype builds, test campaigns, root-cause investigations, and design iterations.
  • Perform mechanical analysis as needed, including finite element analysis, thermal evaluation, and structural validation.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure performance, safety, reliability, cost, and schedule targets are met.
  • Provide hands-on support during assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Translate requirements into production-intent hardware and help move hardware from concept through prototype, industrialization, and shipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Aerospace or aviation systems experience.
  • Experience in fast-iteration, high-performance environments such as automotive, consumer hardware, racing, robotics, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with DO-160 or similar environmental qualification standards.
  • Experience using MATLAB or Python for analysis or automation.
  • Experience with electric or hybrid propulsion systems.

Neon Aero designs and manufactures certifiable aerospace components and systems for next-generation aerospace and defense markets. It partners with OEMs and defense manufacturers to provide advanced propellers, smart actuators, and lightweight flight systems, using AI-driven design tools and a connected digital infrastructure to accelerate conceptual design, aerodynamic and structural analysis, fabrication, assembly, and regulatory testing. The company differentiates itself with end-to-end product lifecycle capabilities, a focus on certifiable hardware, and workflows that emphasize speed and cost efficiency through digital engineering and certified processes. Its goal is to enable electric, AI-powered, supersonic, and hypersonic air vehicles by supplying scalable, certifiable propulsion and flight-system components for aerospace OEMs and defense manufacturers.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • The July 2026 website launch signals an active go-to-market push.
  • Job postings in 2026 show hiring for platform architecture and IT operations.
  • Lockheed Martin Ventures' April 2026 fund expansion strengthens future aerospace startup capital.

What critics are saying

  • Neon Aero launched in 2025; it lacks flight heritage and procurement trust.
  • Dependence on a single first platform keeps revenue fragile until multiple programs ship.
  • Incumbents like GE, Collins, and Honeywell can bury Neon Aero in qualification timelines.

What makes Neon Aero unique

  • Neon Aero sells certifiable propellers and actuators, not experimental aerospace software.
  • Its Irvine and Manchester footprint supports design, testing, and manufacturing under one roof.
  • DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 compliance targets de-risk OEM adoption.
