Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategy, design, implementation, and maintenance of tax planning programs, policies, and procedures for PDS and its affiliates.
  • Work with other tax department directors to lead a team of managers, staff, and senior employees and participate in their professional development.
  • Build relationships with key internal departments, executive leadership, and external consultants to support a best-in-class tax planning, consulting, and compliance practice.
  • Maintain proficiency in current tax laws, tax law changes and proposals, applicable tax software, tax research services, and tax planning opportunities.
  • Apply knowledge of flow-through entities and collaborate with operational leaders on the tax implications of deal structuring.
  • Manage and develop tax processes and technology to align with department needs and improve process efficiency.
  • Discuss and socialize tax planning matters and their implications with direct leaders and partners in group, boardroom, and one-on-one settings, and develop the team to meet the same expectations.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, legal, and business personnel to identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
  • Help develop tax planning strategies related to expanding business lines and a growing multi-state operational footprint.
  • Review and oversee the timely delivery of tax returns, extensions, quarterly tax estimates, and tax projection calculations.
  • Manage department performance and productivity, ensuring that performance standards and documented policies and procedures are administered and interpreted fairly and consistently.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate the team to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ensure a risk-based and controls-oriented environment.
  • Mentor and develop tax staff through formal mentoring and career-planning programs.
  • Oversee the tax team's preparation of tax returns and other tax compliance obligations.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment through effective communication and strong leadership.
  • Identify, evaluate, and consult with external tax advisors as needed to support tax planning strategies.
  • Participate in all standard structured meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Tax.
Desired Qualifications
  • Big Four or similar experience combined with internal tax department experience.
  • A master's degree in Tax.
  • Experience in healthcare or retail.
  • Experience with taxation of partnerships, limited liability companies, and S corporations.
  • Dedication to personal development and education.
