Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Responsibilities
  • Supports several Specialized Master’s programs
  • Assists with development and management of program budgets in collaboration with direct supervisor, including management of program expenditures and requests, and preparing disbursement requests, proposals, and approvals, where appropriate.
  • Assists with surveys and tracks academic progress, maintaining detailed records.
  • Complies with and monitors applicable school and ASU policies and procedures. Assists students with the resolution of program-related issues.
  • Conducts in-class announcements and office hours.
  • Develops, oversees, and reports work plans in accordance with established unit and program objectives and funding limitations.
  • Gathers information, prepares and assists with reviewing administrative reports, and makes recommendations for future efforts.
  • Manages and implements support and academic guidance to ensure student success (including orientation, academic and engagement events, iPOS and CPT trainings, and graduation).
  • Manages and/or implements various student communications such as organizing events and speaker series and creates targeted newsletters.
  • Manages academic advising to support student success and ensure that the program curriculum is completed and academic policies are adhered to. Communicates with students to resolve higher-level, program-related issues. Conducts advising for students facing academic discontinuation or dismissals.
  • Manages the relationship with academic department staff, faculty director(s), and program faculty to ensure appropriate administrative support is provided and that the faculty are involved and listened to.
  • May hire, train, and supervise assigned student employees or graduate assistants for student support activities.
  • Represents the college and Graduate Programs Office and serves on various department and university committees. Serves as a representative of the school at state, regional, and national organizations and committees as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively with student leaders to plan and execute programmatic and club events.
  • Works closely with admissions and recruitment leadership and recruiters on new student communication and issues, ensuring a smooth transition from admitted to current student. May assist the Recruiting and Admissions unit with the facilitation of recruiting events and various information sessions.
  • Works with the academic department staff, program faculty and director to plan, implement, and evaluate the student experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of a Master’s Degree in business, education, or a related field
  • Experience within a higher education environment in the following areas: student advising, business and curriculum processes, and student engagement activities
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills, including delivering presentations in a group setting
  • Experience in work that requires attention to detail and exposure to confidential records.
  • Experience supporting a diverse student population.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student information systems (Peoplesoft); online e-Education platform (*Canvas*)
  • Experience with basic project management and event planning
  • Experience composing, editing, and proofreading written materials
  • Evidence of consistent, positive performance evaluations
  • Supervisory experience (*can include student employees*)
