Job Description
The Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer I of Sociology within the Division of Social Sciences. The Division seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service to the University.
Responsibilities:
Teaching Sociology courses.
Keeping records, posting grades (mid-term & final), submitting attendance reporting, and mentoring/advising students.
Serve on Division and College committees.
Attend University-sponsored activities, such as general student assembly, student recruitment fairs, graduation convocations, and the like.
Engage in professional development activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by department head.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s Degreein Sociology.
One (1) year of related experience teaching Sociology.
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD in Sociology.
More than two (2) years teaching experience at the University level.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Admissions functions of higher education.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Online teaching certification in Canvas or other LMS platforms.
